The Syracuse Symphony Orchestra (SSO), a community partner with Syracuse University's Pulse, is offering specially priced tickets to SU students for the April 2 performance of "Magnificent Mozart." The final installment in the 2005-06 Bristol-Myers Squibb Stained Glass Concert Series, the performance will take place at 3 p.m. at Most Holy Rosary Church, 111 Roberts Ave., Syracuse. Tickets are $12 for students with valid SU I.D.
Led by SSO Music Director Daniel Hege, the concert will feature SSO violinists Cristina Buciu and Petia Radneva-Manolova, and the SU Oratorio Society, led by Elisa Dekaney, soprano Jill Gardner, mezzo-soprano Kelly Samarzea, tenor Robert Allen and bass Jake Gardner.
"Magnificent Mozart" commemorates the 250th anniversary of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's birth. The concert will begin with "Symphony No. 1 in E-flat Major, K. 16," followed by "Concerto No. 5 in A major for Violin and Orchestra, K. 219," which will feature Buciu and Radneva-Manolova, who will also be featured on "Rondo for Violin and Orchestra in B-flat Major, K. 269 (261a)," which will lead off the second half of the concert. The performance will conclude with vocal soloists and the SU Oratorio Society joining the SSO on "Mass in C Major, K. 337, Missa Solemnis."
