National Orange Day is March 24

Syracuse University will celebrate National Orange Day on March 24, the date upon which the University was officially founded in 1870.



Chancellor Kenneth A. Shaw will cut the first slice of birthday cake celebrating SU's 131st birthday at 1 p.m. March 23 in the Schine Student Center.



Locally, SU's Office of Alumni Relations has arranged with Niagara Mohawk to have the utility's main headquarters in downtown Syracuse lit in orange. In New York City, the SU flag will fly atop the Empire State Building.



SU Alumni Clubs across the nation are planning special events. The Central New York club will host luncheon and attend the Syracuse vs. Princeton lacrosse game. The Cleveland Club will participate in the Harvest for Hunger Food Drive. Members of the Connecticut Club will man phones for their local fundraising telethon. The Philadelphia Club will participate in Habitat for Humanity build and the Western New York


Club will participate in the Akron Relay for Life Kickoff Breakfast.
