Syracuse University students can now receive free music through the Ruckus music subscription service. The new, free service will provide students access to more than 1.5 million songs on the Ruckus network. The music service is one of four online, multimedia entertainment services available through Ruckus.
To access the free music service, students must register for the SU Ruckus Community at http://www.ruckus.com. Students who have previously purchased a subscription to the Ruckus music service will not be charged for the spring 2006 subscription.
Other fee-based multimedia entertainment services available through Ruckus are:
Purchases of Ruckus-to-Go and Ruckus Movie and Television Service must be charged to a major credit card. Purchases for these services will no longer be billed through the SU Bursar's Office. Purchases of music tracks or albums must also be charged to a credit card.
Subscriptions to the free music service and Ruckus-to-Go provide students with a limited license to download and listen to the music available on the Ruckus network. When the subscriptions end, the music will no longer play on student computers or MP3 players. In contrast, music that is purchased through the Ruckus Music Purchase option is owned by those who buy the tracks, and the music can be transferred to any personal digital device without paying an additional fee.
