SU professor will discuss how other artists and living in Italy have influenced his work

Stephen Zaima, associate professor of painting in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, will be the featured speaker in the next Visiting Artist and Speakers Program event, sponsored by the Department of Studio Arts in the School of Art and Design, March 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Room 121 of the Shaffer Art Building.



Zaima, who began teaching at SU in 1980 and directed the Visiting Artist and Speakers Program for 12 years, will discuss how various artists, and living in Italy, influenced his work. Zaima has taught in SU's Division of International Programs Abroad in both London and Florence. His most recent exhibitions include one-person shows at John Cabot College in Rome and at the German Cultural Institute for Artists in Florence. He also has exhibited in group shows at the American Consulate in Florence and at the Attendi Gallery in London.



Zaima earned a master's degree in fine arts at the University of California, Davis in 1969.
