Don Doerr '85, LAW '88, assistant vice president for alumni relations, stepped down Feb. 7 to return to private law practice and become of counsel for POMCO, one of the nation's largest professional benefits administrators, which has its main office in Syracuse.
Prior to assuming leadership of the Office of Alumni Relations in February 2004, Doerr was president of the SU Alumni Association and the alumni representative to SU's Board of Trustees. He has also served on the College of Law Board of Visitors and has held leadership roles in the SU Law Alumni Association and the SU Alumni Club of Central New York.
"We are grateful to Don for his leadership both as an alumni volunteer and University staff member. Don's loyal service to SU has helped to advance the mission of the University through outreach to alumni as well as educating current students about SU traditions," says Vice President and Chief Development Officer Lil Breul O'Rourke,'77. "We are now poised to take the next step in assuring that our alumni programs are positioned to be a critical part of the upcoming fund-raising campaign. It is through outreach to alumni that we keep them connected to SU through substantive and engaging programs and opportunities to give back in a variety of ways."
Andrea Latchem, senior philanthropic advisor in the Office of Development, will serve as interim assistant vice president for alumni relations while a search is conducted.
"As a highly regarded and senior member of the Office of Development, Andrea brings to this interim position an extensive knowledge of our alumni constituency as well as a wonderful network of connections both on and off campus," O'Rourke says. "With Andrea's leadership, we will craft a new direction for Alumni Relations focusing on assuring that all resources and assets of the Division of Institutional Advancement are directed towards our common goal of successful completion of the campaign. We are grateful to Andrea for accepting this challenge and for her hard work and leadership."
