For the third event of its 2005-06 Convocation Lecture series, "Legal Realities Behind Media Headlines," and as part of its new Angela S. Cooney Distinguished Lecture Series, the Syracuse University College of Law will host Oren Gross, Julius E. Davis Professor of Law and director of the Center for Legal Studies at the University of Minnesota. His lecture, "Law in Times of Crisis: The Global War on Terror Four Years On," will be held Feb. 3 at 11:45 a.m. in Grant Auditorium. Public parking is available in the Irving Garage.
Gross is an expert on the Middle East and the Arab-Israeli conflict, as well as international trade, international law and national security law issues. He is a prolific scholar and has published widely in the areas of international law and trade, comparative law, international organizations and national security law. He is co-author of "Law in Times of Crisis: Emergency Powers in Theoretical and Comparative Perspective," (Cambridge University Press, 2006), as well as dozens of other publications.
Gross holds an LL.B. degree magna cum laude from Tel Aviv University and obtained both his LL.M. and S.J.D. degrees from Harvard Law School while a Fulbright Scholar.
