Under the direction of Daniel Hege, the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra will present a free concert, Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. in the Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium, located in Crouse College. The concert is sponsored by Pulse, which provides SU undergraduates with opportunities to attend and participate in cultural programs, performances, exhibitions and events both on campus and in the community. Gilles Vonsattel will perform Beethoven's "Piano Concerto No. 5 (Emperor)." The program also includes Bach's "Brandenburg No. 3," Handel's "Water Music" and Setnor School of Music faculty member Daniel Godfrey's "Jest."
"I've always enjoyed working with my friends and colleagues in the Syracuse Symphony, but these premiere performances of 'Jest' are my first opportunity--which I heartily welcome--to work with Dan Hege, whose gifts as a musical leader and interpreter I greatly admire," says Godfrey.
SU's Pulse was developed nearly 10 years ago as a joint initiative between the College of Visual and Performing Arts and the Division of Student Affairs to influence student culture in positive ways by positioning the arts and cultural events more prominently as part of the student experience.
