The Syracuse University Senate Committee on Honorary Degrees is soliciting nominations from faculty, staff and students for candidates to receive honorary degrees at the 2006 and 2007 Commencements.

Those wishing to nominate an individual should complete a nomination form, available at
http://universitysenate.syr.edu/honorary/honorary.html, and attach the requested materials to explain the basis for honoring the individual. A copy of the nominee's vita or resume, or a description of the candidate's professional history and contributions, should also be attached. If appropriate, nominators may include additional information such as letters of support or materials or writings that attest to the eminence of the candidate. Each nomination should be limited to eight pages.

All nominations should be sent to Dean Eric Spina and Judy O'Rourke, co-chairs of the honorary degree committee, in care of the Office of Undergraduate Studies, 304 Steele Hall. The deadline for nominations for the 2006 Commencement is Sept. 30; the deadline for nominations for the 2007 Commencement is Jan. 20, 2006.

Call O'Rourke at 443-1428 for more information.
