Syracuse University Health Services (SUHS) has announced its plans for making flu vaccine available to the University community this fall. The vaccine is now available by appointment at SUHS, 111 Waverly Ave., for those students, faculty and staff who are at high risk for complications from influenza.
The Centers for Disease Control recommend that people in the following groups have priority to receive inactivated influenza vaccine-the "flu shot"-until Oct. 24, 2005:
Effective immediately, SU and SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry students, faculty and staff who fall within these categories are able to obtain flu vaccine from SUHS. Pregnant women are required to show a note from their physician.
Beginning Oct. 24, all SU and ESF students, faculty and staff will be able to obtain flu vaccine from SUHS. SUHS is unable to provide the vaccine for dependents of students, faculty or staff.
Hours of administration are Monday-Friday, 11a.m.-3 p.m., by appointment, which can be made by calling 443-9005. The cost is $15 for students, which can be billed to students' Bursar's accounts; and $20.00 for faculty and staff, which can be paid by cash or check. For more information, call 443-9019.
