The CNY Reads Consortium, led by Syracuse University Library Associates and including many Central New York partners, has developed a new Web site
(http://library.syr.edu/cnyreads) to serve as both a source of information on programming related to this year's book selection, "North Star Conspiracy" (1995, Penguin USA), by Miriam Grace Monfredo, and as a portal for community dialogue on the book.
The site includes a full calendar of CNY Reads events through May 2006, as well as historical background and resources on the topics covered in "North Star Conspiracy," including the Underground Railroad. The site contains instructions for entering the CNY Reads art and essay contests, and soon there will be a study guide for teachers and discussion group leaders. The website will also feature an interactive section within which all members of the University community-faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents, friends and the local community-can share their personal reflections and perspectives about important issues and themes raised in "North Star Conspiracy."
Jeremy Morgan, technical specialist in the SU Library's information management services department, developed the design for the CNY Reads web site.
CNY Reads promotes reading, research, discovery and sharing of perspectives among readers across Central New York by encouraging them to read the same book and participate in related programs. Syracuse University Library Associates leads the CNY Reads Consortium, which includes representatives from organizations throughout Central New York.
