Work has begun on the Adams Street Garage project, located at 1306 East Adams St. A fence has been erected around the perimeter, and contractors have begun preparing the site for excavation.
Completion of the 349-space parking garage-anticipated for June 2006-is an important step in the future construction of the $107-million Life Sciences Complex announced last March, allowing for a transfer of vehicles from the Comstock and University Place lots on which the complex will be built.
The Life Sciences Complex is envisioned as a 230,000-square-foot building adjacent to the current Center for Science and Technology. It will house The College of Arts and Sciences' biology and chemistry departments and biochemistry programs, and is slated to open for the Fall 2008 semester.
