The supply chain department in Syracuse University's Martin J. Whitman School of Management has been ranked as the 10th best program in the nation in a recent survey of academics and practitioners. In an article in the most recent issue of the trade publication Supply Chain Management Review, Whitman's supply chain department is ranked ninth by practitioners and 15th by academics, for a 10th-place overall ranking. The piece is authored by Stephen M. Rutner, associate professor at Georgia Southern University, and Stanley E. Fawcett, the Donald L. Staheli Professor of Management at Brigham Young University.
"The Whitman School is thrilled by the ranking of our supply chain department," says Melvin T. Stith, dean of the Whitman School. "The ranking is another example of the outstanding work of our Whitman faculty. Increasingly, the academy of practitioners is recognizing the excellence associated with our programs."
The rankings were based on a survey of professionals working in the supply chain/logistics field. Criteria for evaluation included faculty, research, source of potential employees, alumni in the workforce, graduate and undergraduate curricula, and university reputation.
