The program in Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises at Syracuse University has received two grants to fund scholarships for faculty attending the Experiential Classroom VI, which will be held Sept. 15-18 at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management.
The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation has awarded a grant in the amount of $108,000 that will support 27 full- and 13 half-scholarships for delegates from across the country. A $10,000 grant from the Coleman Foundation will support 10 partial scholarships of $1,000 each.
The Experiential Classroom is an annual clinic designed to demonstrate practical, simple, provocative and innovative ways in which new entrepreneurship educators can use a variety of content-related and experiential tools. This program seeks to help entrepreneurship educators become great teachers by exposing them to best practices.
Presenters at the clinic are master educators in the field of entrepreneurship, with some of the pioneers in the field sharing their perspectives. The clinic features a unique exercise in which each delegate teaches a mock class with live students. Delegates are filmed and critiqued.
Ninety delegates will attend this year's clinic, twice last year's enrollment. They represent more than 70 institutions from the United States and around the world. Michael Morris, Witting Chair and director of the Experiential Classroom, is pleased to receive such strong support for the clinic. The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation works with partners to encourage entrepreneurship across America and improve the education of children and youth. The foundation focuses its operations and grantmaking on two areas: entrepreneurship and education.
The Coleman Foundation, Inc., is a not-for-profit, private, independent foundation established in Illinois in 1951. The major areas of grantmaking include cancer care, treatment and research, education with an emphasis on entrepreneurship, and services for the disabled with an emphasis on developmental disabilities.
