Syracuse University's College of Human Services and Health Professions (HSHP) and its dean, Bruce W. Lagay, will receive the Community Partnership Award at the Dunbar Association's annual dinner. The event takes place June 15, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Oncenter. The event is open to the public. For information, contact Sharon Jack Williams at (315) 476-4269.

"This is a wonderful honor and a timely one as we salute the able leadership of Bruce Lagay and begin our reluctant farewell to him," says Keith Alford, associate professor of social work in HSHP. "We send our sincerest congratulations to Dean Lagay and the college on a well deserved honor." Lagay has announced that he will retire July 29.

The Community Partnership Award is given to an individual or group that has demonstrated a commitment to making an impact in the community by delivering human and social services to children, families and seniors. HSHP has partnered with Dunbar on many humanitarian, grant assistance and practice consultation endeavors. According to Williams, executive director of the Dunbar Association, Lagay and HSHP were selected as award recipients to recognize their long history of embracing Dunbar's vision and working together to achieve goals.

"It was time to say 'thank you' to Dean Lagay publicly," says Williams. "We wanted to honor him and the difference he and the college have made in the community."
