The Office of Human Resources, University College and Recreation Services invite all staff, faculty and students to join the two-mile Fun Walk and Run on June 10, to kick off the 2005 Strawberry Festival. The walk and uncertified run will begin at noon on the University Quad, will proceed along Comstock Avenue to Manley Field House and come back to the Quad.
All participants will be eligible for raffle prizes, including lunch for two at the Faculty Center and gift certificates to area merchants. Event prizes and raffles will be awarded on the steps of Hendricks Chapel following the walk. To register, arrive on the Quad at 11:30 a.m. and visit the Recreation Services tent, or call Scott Catucci at 443-0290.
Participants in the walk and run will still have time to enjoy the Strawberry Festival, which will take place from 11:30 a.m-1:30 p.m. It will feature strawberry shortcake and sundaes, picnic lunch food, music by Syracuse University's Brass Ensemble, a service "trade show" featuring benefit vendors and SU departments, and department give-aways.
Strawberry sundae tickets are $3.50. Pre-event sundae tickets will be on sale June 6-9 in the Carrier Dome Concession office. To buy, send an ID with ticket delivery instructions, including a room number, to Carole Harris, or stop by Carrier Dome Concessions after June 6.
In case of rain, the walk and run and the trade show will be held as planned; desserts only will be served on the patio of Huntington Beard Crouse Hall (no picnic food); and the Brass Ensemble will perform in Hendricks Chapel.
