Israeli artist Mordechai Beck will visit Syracuse University on Tuesday, Nov. 16, as a guest of the Judaic Studies Program. Beck will present a slide show and discuss his Biblical art at 7:30 p.m. in the Kilian Room, Room 500 of the Hall of Languages. The event is free and open to the public.
Beck studied art in London and now lives in Jerusalem. Since 1988, his artwork has focused on etchings, linocuts and woodcuts. He has also experimented with lithography and screen printing.
Three of Beck's main works are "The Book of Jonah" etchings, "Ushpizin" prints and "The Song of Songs" linocuts, all of which have been purchased by the Library of Congress in Washington. His art has been exhibited in Israel, the United States and the former Soviet Union.
