The Fall 2004 Raymond Carver Reading Series at Syracuse University continues with a fiction reading by best-selling author Tom Perrotta on Nov. 17. The reading starts at 5:45 p.m. in Gifford Auditorium, located in Huntington Beard Crouse Hall. It is free and open to the public.
Perrotta is the author of five novels: "Bad Haircut: Stories of the Seventies" (Bridge Works Publishing, 1994), "The Wishbones" (Berkley Publishing Group, 1998), "Election" (Berkley Publishing Group, 1998), "Joe College" (St. Martin's Griffin, 2001) and "Little Children" (St. Martin's Press, 2004).
In 1999, Paramount Pictures made Perrotta's "Election" into a major motion picture starring Reese Witherspoon and Matthew Broderick. His novels "The Wishbones" and "Bad Haircut" are both national bestsellers. "Joe College," also a national bestseller, was a New York Times Notable Book of the Year.
Perrotta, who received his master's degree in creative writing from SU in 1988, resides in Belmont, Mass.
The Raymond Carver Reading Series is supported by The College of Arts and Sciences, the SU Library Associates, Stephen King, the Dr. Scholl Foundation and the Richard Elman Visiting Writer Fund.
