The first students and alumni who ordered Syracuse University's new official class ring were honored in a Nov. 8 event at the Chancellor's residence. Chancellor Kenneth A. Shaw and Mary Ann Shaw presented the rings - unique tokens of students' accomplishments and experiences at the University - during the first annual Syracuse University Official Ring Ceremony, which included more than 50 students and many of their family members.
Friday night's ceremony marked the successful launch of a new Syracuse University tradition. Each fall and spring, students who order their rings will be recognized during a special presentation where each student will receive a Syracuse University official ring in a wooden display box with the University seal engraved on the top.
Student input played an important role in the exclusive design of the new rings, which feature gold miniatures of the landmarks and symbols that best represent Syracuse University culture.
Students who want to participate in the spring ceremony will have the opportunity to place early ring orders in the Syracuse University Bookstore through Nov. 13, and again in late February. For more information, students should contact the Syracuse University Bookstore at 443-9900.
