Catherine Ingraham, chair of graduate architecture and urban design at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y., will present "Architectural Science: Why All These Birds?" at 6:30 p.m. March 7 in the Sue Ann Genet Auditorium, Room 108 of Slocum Hall. The lecture is part of the School of Architecture's Spring 2001 Lecture Series.
In May of 1999, Ingraham took a leave from her academic appointment in Iowa State University's Department of Architecture to serve as chair of graduate architecture and urban design at Pratt. She has lectured, written and taught extensively on architectural theory and design for the past 14 years. She is author of "Architecture and the Burdens of Linearity" (Yale University Press, 1998) and was editor of Assemblage: A Critical Journal of Architecture and Design Culture from 1991 to 1998.
Ingraham has been a visiting professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture and Harvard University Graduate School of Design, teaching both design studios and theory seminars. She received a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University in 1983.
