Syracuse University's Student Association (SA) is conducting its election for president and comptroller Nov. 4-7, and for the first time undergraduate students are able to vote online.
SA's Online Voting Application can be found at http://cwis03.syr.edu/sgavote. SU students can vote from midnight on Nov. 4 to 9 p.m. on Nov. 7, when polls will officially close.
Once on the Web site, a student need simply type in his or her SU I.D. number and electoral security code, which is a combination of eight numeric characters-the last four digits of the student's Social Security number, two digit day of birth, and last two digits of the year of birth (or ssssddyy).
SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) students participate in SA elections but are unable to access the online system for this election; SU students studying abroad will also not be able to vote online. The online voting system is a pilot program, which is still in development, explains Laura Yamin, chair of the SA Board of Elections and Membership.
Paper ballots for ESF students will be available at polling stations in the Marshall Hall foyer on the ESF campus Nov. 5-7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
