Proposals are now being sought for Vision Fund 2003. The deadline for submission is Nov. 8.

The purpose of the Vision Fund is to continue the University's tradition of encouraging visionary, experimental and creative ideas leading to the improvement of teaching and learning. The 2003 Vision Fund will provide a small number of grants (up to $5,000 each) to support the creative ideas of faculty at the course level. Successful proposals will be those that have the greatest potential to improve teaching and learning. Collaboration across academic units and with the Division of Student Affairs staff and programs is encouraged.

A larger fund will be announced later in the academic year to support curriculum innovation around diversity at the department or program level.

While the Vision Fund is open to any project or strategy focused on enhancing learning through diversity, priority will be given to proposals that meet the following criteria:

  • have the greatest potential to improve teaching and learning;
  • create learning experiences that are experimental or innovative;
  • demonstrate creative collaboration within and across units (for example, creating learning communities that link courses and academic/student affairs services);
  • promote active student learning opportunities that have the likelihood to become models for innovation across the University.

All University faculty and staff are invited to apply for funding. For more information, contact the Center for the Support of Teaching and Learning at 443-4572 or visit the Web at http://cstl.syr.edu.
