According to the NCAA, as of Oct. 16, 2003, 26 states and two U.S. territories (the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands) have passed Uniform Athlete Agents Act (UAAA) legislation.
The states are: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington and West Virginia.
Ten other states have existing, non-UAAA laws designed to regulate athlete agents: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Oregon and South Carolina.
Fourteen states and one territory have no existing law regulating athlete agents: Alaska, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Puerto Rico, South Dakota, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin* and Wyoming. Wisconsin has active UAAA legislation in its legislative chamber.
