On Monday, Oct. 25, incumbent Congressman James Walsh will debate challenger Howie Hawkins at Syracuse University. The debate will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Maxwell Auditorium. Campaign representatives have confirmed that both candidates will attend.

The event is open to the public; Walsh and Hawkins will discuss their views and members of the audience will have the chance to participate in a question-and-answer session. Public parking will be in the Irving Avenue Garage.

The debate is the last in a series of Monday-night events in which candidates for Congress, the New York State Senate and State Assembly will visit SU. The political debates are organized by the Student Association, which initiated the program in the early 1990s to give students, faculty, staff and neighbors of SU the chance to hear from local candidates.
