The New York State College Health Association's 2004 annual meeting is taking place Oct. 20-22 at the Sheraton Syracuse University Hotel & Conference Center in Syracuse.
The meeting is opening with a luncheon on Oct. 20, followed by the keynote address by William A. Gorman. Gorman's presentation is titled "Prevention-Is It Really Possible?" and will explore the issue of alcohol and other drug use on college campuses. Throughout the two-and-a-half-day meeting, presentations will include a variety of programs and exhibits to meet the interests and needs for the range of disciplines represented in college health throughout New York State. The annual banquet will be held on October 21, and will include comments from the president and other officers of NYSCHA as well as presentation of special accomplishment awards including the first Vincent J. Lamparella Jr. Award for Excellence in College Health. Lamparella was director of SU Health Services from 1975-90. The evening will also include entertainment by student performers from SU, including Sara Villagio on flute, Angela Allen on violin and The Mandarins, a 14-person female singing group.
