Barbara Fought, the Fall 2003 Faculty Teaching Associate for Faculty Computing and Media Services, will present "Is this Web site for real: Judging the credibility of Web sites," Oct. 20 and 30 from 9-10:30 a.m. in Room 272 of Newhouse II. Registration information is available at http://www-fcms.syr.edu/facdev/workshops.htm or by calling 443-2604.

The workshop will help faculty and teaching assistants evaluate the credibility of URLs, investigate who is behind a Web site, and learn quick tips for spotting disreputable sources. The session will focus on hands-on learning as participants use a six-point checklist to sleuth out credible Web sites from bogus ones.

Fought has been teaching at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications since 1993. She is an expert in teaching journalists to use the Internet to enhance their reporting.
