School of Nursing to host Oct. 19 HIV/AIDS discussion

Syracuse University's School of Nursing in the College of Human Services and Health Professions will host a discussion about HIV/AIDS in Nigeria on Oct. 19 at 3 p.m.

Dr. Henry N. Chionuma, CEO of Homeland Charities, will speak on the effect of the disease upon the people of Nigeria, and the role of U.S. health care providers in this area. The discussion will be held at the School of Nursing, 426 Ostrom Ave., and is free and open to the public.

Homeland Charities is a nonprofit organization that aims to alleviate the devastating impact of HIV/AIDS in Abia State, Nigeria, through education to help reduce the occurrence of HIV/AIDS transmission; to reduce suffering of those living with HIV/AIDS; and to help mitigate the negative economic and social effects of HIV/AIDS
