On Oct. 23 the Syracuse University Women's Choir, under the direction of Barbara M. Tagg, will host the third annual SU Women's Choir Invitational Festival. Guest choirs for the 2004 event include the Cicero-North Syracuse Women's Chamber Choir under the direction of Caryn Patterson, and the Fayetteville-Manlius High School Women's Choir under the direction of Bruce Campbell. Each choir will perform their own repertoire and combine for three selections under the direction of Tagg and invited guest conductor Tom Hall.

The all-day festival provides high school women's choirs the opportunity to study, rehearse and perform with the SU Women's Choir and to work under a well-known guest conductor. This year's festival will feature Hall, music director of the Baltimore Choral Arts Society. In addition to adding more than 100 pieces to the Baltimore choir's repertoire, he has prepared choruses for Leonard Bernstein, Robert Shaw, Helmuth Rilling and others. Hall is an internationally known teacher, lecturer, and writer and has served as the president of Chorus America.

The concert is free of charge and open to the public. It begins at 2 p.m. in the Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium, located in Crouse College. Parking is available in Irving Garage.
