Conceptual illustrator to speak at SU Oct. 20

Sterling Hundley, a conceptual illustrator who works in a variety of mediums, will speak at Syracuse University's Shemin Auditorium, Oct. 20 at 12:15 p.m. Shemin Auditorium is located in Shaffer Art Building. This event is free and open to the public.

Hundley graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1998. He also attended the Illustration Academy in Kansas City, Mo. While still a student, Hundley received national acclaim for his work in the Society of Illustrators professional show.

Hundley's work has appeared in the pages of Communication Arts, American Illustration, Print Magazine, the Los Angeles Society of Illustrators, Step by Step Graphics, the publication of the Society of Publication Designers and the newsletter of the New York Society of Illustrators. He has been awarded a silver medal from the Society of Illustrators, as well as gold and silver medals from the Illustrators Club in Washington, D.C.

In 2004, Hundley was featured as one of only two illustrators in Print's "Young Visual Artist" section. He has served as a juror for the Society of Illustrators and CMYK magazine. In 2002, Sterling assisted in the relocation of the Illustration Academy from Kansas City to Richmond, Va. He currently serves as one of three core instructors at the academy.
