Organist Elizabeth Lenti will continue the new tradition of "Rising Stars" concerts as part of the Malmgren Concert Series at Syracuse University's Hendricks Chapel. She will play Oct. 17 at 4 p.m., and perform works by J.S. Bach, Buxtehude, Sweelinck, Widor, Mendelssohn and others. The concert is free and open to the public.
The annual "Rising Stars" concerts feature young organists whose careers are on the rise. This year, Lenti received second prize at the Arthur Poister Competition for Organ Playing and was one of 25 official competitors chosen for the prestigious National Young Artists Competition in Organ Performance.
A native of Rochester, Lenti recently completed her master's degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied with Todd Wilson. She did her undergraduate work at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, studying with David Higgs.
Lenti has been an active participant in numerous conferences and conventions, both nationally and internationally, including the Goteborg International Organ Academy and the Oundle International Festival. She serves as assistant organist at Fairmount Presbyterian Church in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
