Guest violinist to perform at SU Oct. 3

Jeremy Mastrangelo, a guest violinist and the associate concertmaster of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, will perform a violin recital at Syracuse University's Rose, Jules R. and Sanford S. Setnor School of Music, Oct. 3 at 5 p.m. The concert will take place in the Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium, located in Crouse College. It is free and open to the public.

Mastrangelo will perform selections from Mozart, Piazzola, Franck and Brahms. He will be accompanied by Andrew Lenhart on piano.

Mastrengelo was a finalist in the 1994 Julius Stulberg competition. He won first prize in the National Federation of Music Club and the Michigan American String Teachers Association competitions. He was co-concertmaster of the New World Symphony Orchestra in Miami and in 2003 was featured as concertmaster and soloist with the Bach and Beyond Festival in Fredonia, N.Y. He holds degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music and the University of Michigan.
