"Home Is Where the Orange Is" is the theme of Homecoming 2002, a weeklong celebration that brings together students and alumni to celebrate their Syracuse identity. A variety of events are planned that are sure to make all Syracuse students and alumni feel right at home.

A photo exhibition will be held throughout Homecoming Week in the Schine Student Center Atrium. Snapshots of the Goon Squad, Homecoming courts and of everyday campus life from yesterday and today will be on display.

On Sept. 30, Ed Galvin, director of archives and records management at Syracuse University Library, will give a presentation on SU memorabilia at 6 p.m. in Room 304 of the Schine Student Center. Galvin will display and discuss several rare SU artifacts and refreshments will be served.

Later than evening, the Office of Greek Life and Experiential Learning will host a Greek Lip Sync/Skit Night at 8 p.m. in Goldstein Auditorium of the Schine Student Center.

On Oct. 1, comedian Margaret Cho will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the Goldstein Auditorium. Tickets are $5 for the general public and $3 with an SU I.D. and are available at the Schine Box Office.

Oct. 2 is "Slice of Orange Day." Giveaways and refreshments will be served at the SU Traditions Table in the Schine Student Center Atrium. Those who stop by will have the chance to win a free Homecoming t-shirt. The following day, social Greek-letter fraternity and sorority chapters will be participating in and hosting the annual "Yell Like Hell and Banner Competition," to be held at 8 p.m. in Goldstein Auditorium.

Hundreds of alumni are expected to return to campus to join the fun on Friday, Oct. 4. The classes of 1972, 1977, 1982 and 1992 will be recognized in weekend reunion celebrations. Alumni will be welcomed at the Homecoming Reunion Registration and Hospitality Center in the Goldstein Alumni and Faculty Center. The registration center will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

"Holla Back," the SU Spirit Fest, will be held Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. in Goldstein Auditorium. SU football coach Paul Pasqualoni, the SU football captains and the 2002 Homecoming King and Queen are the special guests of this high energy pep rally hosted by SU's own Penguins Without Pants.

A variety of activities are scheduled for the weekend. Academic offices and buildings will be open on Friday. Alumni are invited to go on guided campus tours, and to attend lectures, exhibitions and performances throughout the weekend. Among the offerings, alumni may attend a slide presentation by Fine Arts Professor Laurinda Dixon Oct. 5 at 2 p.m.

On Oct. 5, a pre-game Homecoming Party for the reunion classes of 1972, 1977, 1982 and 1992 will be held at the Goldstein Alumni and Faculty Center at 10 a.m. The L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science (369 Link Hall) and the College of Human Services and Health Professions (lobby of Heroy) will also host pre-game tailgate parties at 10 a.m.

The SU vs. Pittsburgh football game will be held in the Carrier Dome at noon on Oct. 5. Chancellor Kenneth A. Shaw will present the Outstanding Alumni and Teacher of the Year awards during pre-game ceremonies.
