On Sept. 28, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., casting directors from Bunim/Murray Productions-producers of the hit MTV show "The Real World"-will conduct an open casting call at Syracuse University. The event, which will take place in the Schine Student Center, is open to all people between the ages of 18 and 24 on a first-come, first-served basis. Paid parking will be offered in the University Avenue garage on a space-available basis. All interviewees should bring recent photos of themselves, which will not be returned, and photo I.D. showing date of birth.
"Our generation has grown up with 'The Real World' and most of us at one time or another have said, 'I could do that.' To be able to give young people the opportunity to see if they can 'do that' is something that we could not pass up," says Dennis Jacobs, University Union president and sophomore television, radio and film major. University Union is the organizer of the casting call. "University Union feels that an event of this size is right up our alley," says Jacobs.
The casting call at SU is one of several, held across the country, that will help producers narrow the field from the tens of thousands to the seven participants who will appear on the show's 16th season. "Real World" is MTV's longest-running show; it is a documentary/reality show that explores the lives of seven strangers as they spend five months living and working together. Producers have not yet identified the city where the next season will be filmed.
