Dan L. Burk, the Oppenheimer, Wolff and Donnelly Professor of Law at the University of Minnesota Law School, will lecture at Syracuse University's College of Law on Sept. 30 at 11:45 a.m. The lecture, titled "Expression, Selection, Abstraction: Copyright's Golden Braid," will take place in Grant Auditorium, located in White Hall.
Burk is an internationally prominent authority on the law of intellectual property, specializing in the areas of cyberlaw and biotechnology. He joined the University of Minnesota Law School in 2000 as professor of law and Vance K. Opperman Research Scholar. During 2001-02, he was appointed to the Julius Davis Chair in Law. He has also taught at Seton Hall University and as a teaching fellow at Stanford Law School
Burk holds a B.S. in microbiology from Brigham Young University, an M.S. in molecular biology and biochemistry from Northwestern University, a J.D. from Arizona State University and a J.S.M. from Stanford University.
His lecture is part of the College of Law's Endries Scholar Series. The lecture is free and open to the public. Paid visitor parking is offered on a space-available basis in the Irving and University Avenue Garages.
