Illustrator and artist Jerry Pinkney will speak at Syracuse University's Shemin Auditorium on Sept. 29 at 12:15 p.m. Shemin Auditorium is located in Shaffer Art Building. This event is free and open to the public.
Pinkney is the winner of four Caldecott Honor Medals for his books "Noah's Ark"; "John Henry," written by Julius Lester; "The Talking Eggs," written by Robert D. San Souci; and "Mirandy and Brother Wind." He has also been honored with the Coretta Scott King Award and King Honors.
Originally from Philadelphia, Pinkney has a bachelor's degree from the Philadelphia Museum of College of Art. His lecture is sponsored by the Visual Communications department in SU's School of Art and Design.
