Local actor Frank Fiumano will make his professional debut as Sam in Becky Mode's "Fully Committed," which runs from Sept. 28-Oct. 24. Directed by Michael Donald Edwards, adjunct professor in Syracuse University's drama department, the one-act comedy will be performed at The Auditorium at 810 East Genesee St., adjacent to Syracuse Stage. "Fully Committed" is sponsored by Lockheed Martin Maritime Systems and Sensors, Phoebe's and Residence Inn by Marriott.
"Fully Committed" is set in a dilapidated, windowless office in the basement of a four-star, award-winning, trendy Upper East Side Manhattan restaurant. Sam, a lowly reservations clerk, endures the day from hell in the job from hell, as the phones never stop with calls from folks trying to wheedle a desirable table. Fiumano will play more than 30 characters throughout the course of the evening, including an egotistical chef, a frantic maitred', Naomi Campbell's assistant, little old ladies, foreign dignitaries, Mafia figures and every sort of social climber imaginable.
Edwards directed Syracuse Stage's season opener "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" as well as last season's productions of "Private Lives," "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" and "Amadeus." Associate professor of drama Alex Koziara will design the set. Lighting designer Cory Pattak and costume designer Michelle Green are both SU drama students making their professional design debuts. Syracuse Stage sound designer Jonathan Herter will create the aural effects.
