Members of the Syracuse University community are invited to observe moments of silence at specific times on Sept. 11 in memory of those who died a year ago.

At 8:46 a.m., 9:03 a.m., 9:43 a.m., 9:59 a.m., 10:10 a.m. and 10:29 a.m., the Crouse Chimes in historic Crouse College will sound 31 tolls. The times correspond, respectively, to the moments when the WTC north tower was struck, the south tower was struck, the Pentagon was struck, the south tower collapsed, the passenger liner crashed in rural Pennsylvania and the north tower collapsed.

Thirty tolls signify the 30 SU alumni who were killed at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The 31st chime is for all of the other victims of the terrorist acts.
