Malcolm Holzman, founding partner in the New York City-based HHPA Partners and Associates, will present "Alea lacta Est" Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. in Syracuse University's Slocum Hall, Room 108. The lecture, part of the continuing 2003 Spring Lecture Series presented by SU's School of Architecture, is free and open to the public.
During three decades of practice, Holzman has designed a wide variety of notable public buildings in 25 states across the country. His innovative solutions for complex building programs have contributed to HHPA's national recognition, and his advocacy for architectural excellence extends to his participation in international conferences, lectures and teaching.
Holzman has held endowed chairs of architecture at Yale University, the University of Wisconsin, Ball State University and the University of Texas. In recognition of his advancement of architecture and urbanism over a sustained period of time, he has received the Pratt Institute Distinguished Alumni Award and the 2001 Gold Medal from Tau Sigma Delta, the honor society of architecture and the allied arts. He publishes regularly as the American contributor to the "Art Book" and is a member of the editorial board of the "Mac Journal" of the Mackintosh School of Architecture. His latest book is "Stonework" (Images Publishers Inc., 2002), a personal exposition on building with stone in the 21st century.
