David Cay Johnston, taxes and accounting reporter for The New York Times, will speak at Syracuse University's College of Law on Sept. 17 at 11:45 a.m. Titled "Perfectly Legal-How Our Tax System Really Is," the lecture will take place in Room 200 of MacNaughton Hall. A book signing will follow the lecture.
Johnston is the best-selling author of "Perfectly Legal: The Covert Campaign to Rig Our Tax System to Benefit the Super Rich-and Cheat Everybody Else," which was honored as Investigative Book of the Year by Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE).
He joined The New York Times in 1995, previously working at the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Los Angeles Times, the Detroit Free Press and the San Jose Mercury News. In 2001, he won the Pulitzer Prize for investigative reports on the U.S. tax system.
The lecture is sponsored by Sherman F. Levy '57, L'59. It is free and open to the public. Paid visitor parking is offered on a space-available basis in the Irving and University Avenue Garages.
