How far would you go for love? What might it cost?
Syracuse University's Black Box Player's first show of the 2003 Spring semester, "The Shape Of Things" by Neil LaBute, explores these questions in the shocking story of a modern relationship gone awry. The play will be performed Feb. 20-23, Feb. 27- 28 and March 1 in the SU Drama Department's Black Box Theater, located in the Archibold Theater Complex, 820 East Genesee St. All performances are free and open to the public.
LaBute's other credits include the critically acclaimed "In The Company Of Men," "Your Friends and Neighbors" and "Nurse Betty."
Directing the play is junior acting major Greg Cicchino, who also directed Up And Running's production of "You're A Good Man Charlie Brown." Cicchino is also the director for the Drama Department's upcoming understudy production of "Agog In The Galapagos," a new play by Tina Howe.
"The Shape of Things" cast includes senior Tara D'Antonio, who was last seen in Syracuse Stage's production of "M. Butterfly;" seniors Stuart Williams and Kristin Hoesl, both seen in Syracuse Stage's production of "West Side Story;" and senior Ryan Dornbusch, last seen in the Drama Department's production of "Getting Out."
Assistant director is sophomore Lily Croll, set design is by senior Elyn Cordeiro, lighting design is by sophomore Cory Pattack, sound design is by senior Chris Rummel, costume design is by sophomore Michelle Green, stage manager is senior Erica Conrad and assistant stage manager is freshman Tori Huston-Elem.
Performances are at 8 p.m. on Feb. 20, 21, 22, 27 and 28, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on March 1 and at 2 p.m. Feb. 23. Due to limited seating, please arrive one hour prior to performance to guarantee seating.
