Syracuse University's Falcone Center for Entrepreneurship has announced its second annual START-UP: Syracuse Entrepreneurs' Boot Camp. The Boot Camp will be held each Saturday from Oct. 9-Nov. 13, from 8:30 a.m.-noon at SU's Martin J. Whitman School of Management. The cost is $500.

According to Falcone Center Director Nola Miyasaki, the Boot Camp packages key elements of SU's nationally recognized curriculum in entrepreneurship as a focused, intense six-week series designed to help entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs create ventures with impact. The Boot Camp will offer hands-on experience, enabling participants to apply critical concepts, ideas and approaches to their own businesses or business ideas.

Topics will include: Determining whether a business idea is a good one; deciding the need for a business plan and writing it well; researching the market; securing financing; making sense of numbers; defining a business model; guerilla and low-cost marketing; what it really takes to succeed in business; where to get information to organize a new business; and models for making money.

No business background is required. The program is open to people with ideas for new businesses, those in the early stages of a new venture or those who are curious about entrepreneurship. Space is limited and registration is required; visit http://www.som.syr.edu/eee/bootcamp for information and registration.

A limited number of scholarships are available for qualified applicants, sponsored by the Falcone Center, Bond Schoeneck & King PLLC, KeyBank and the Metropolitan Development Association of Syracuse and Central New York.

Support is also available from CNY Works in the form of a special entrepreneurial training grant. Guidelines for that program are online at http://www.cnyworks.com.
