On May 5, the Community Design Center (CDC) at Syracuse University's School of Architecture will unveil its design proposals for downtown Syracuse's Community Plaza-commonly known as the Everson Plaza. The event will begin at the Everson Museum at 4 p.m. and will be followed by an open community discussion. It is free and open to the public.
Students enrolled in the CDC created the designs for the project, which was sponsored by Onondaga County. The plaza is located between State and Townsend Streets, the county power plant and the Everson Museum. The CDC offers architecture, urban design and planning assistance to neighborhoods and non-profit organizations and works in collaboration with government agencies on community projects.
The County Executive's office will review the CDC design proposals and make decisions about how to proceed with the renovation of the Plaza.
