For the second year in a row, the Office of Off-Campus Student Services and Students Offering Service at Hendricks Chapel have organized a donation drive, which will take place May 4-May 20 and will invite all students living on- and off-campus to donate food and good used items instead of discarding them at the end of the school year.

In 2004, more than five tons of food and clothing items were collected. Other sponsors of this year's donation drive are the Office of Residential Life and Lutheran Campus Ministry.

All donations will benefit not-for-profit organizations, including the North Side Community Food Pantry and Clothing Closet in Syracuse and Refugee Resettlement. The items will be used to help homeless families and refugees to set up new homes. The charities will accept donations of good used items, including all types of clothing; kitchen supplies such as silverware, dishes, small appliances, pots and pans; linens such as blankets, sheets, towels and pillows; non-perishable foods; furniture in good condition and anything else a family could use when setting up a home.

Off-campus students can make donations at 754 Ostrom Ave., home of the Office of Off-Campus Student Services; or they can arrange a pickup by calling 443-5489 or e-mailing ocsserv@syr.edu .

For on-campus students, large cardboard boxes marked with the INSERT HERE logo will be available in all North Campus residence halls and the Ann and Alfred Goldstein Student Center on South Campus; resident advisors can also help coordinate donations.

For more information, contact the Office of Off-Campus Student Services at 443-5489 or Students Offering Service at 443-2091.
