Syracuse University Jazz Ensemble to present next Setnor Tuesday concert at Syracuse University

The Syracuse University Jazz Ensemble, under the baton of Joe Riposo, director of Jazz Studies at SU, will present a concert at 8 p.m. Feb. 26 in the Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium in SU's Crouse College. The concert, part of the Setnor Tuesday Night Concert Series, is free and open to the public.


Guest conductor will be John Coggiola, assistant professor of music education and chair of the music education program in SU's Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music, College of Visual and Performing Arts. In addition to teaching at the University and in secondary schools, Coggiola has directed numerous jazz and brass ensembles and is an active instrumental ensemble adjudicator.


The concert will also feature students enrolled in the Setnor School of Music, including junior Jaclyn Viscarde on alto saxophone; juniors Justin Clark and Daniel Reitz and sophomore Greg Hernandez on trombone; and featured drummer senior Kinyatta King. Senior Robert Lyons will be the lead trumpet with jazz solos by freshman Timothy Chanoux and graduate student Danny Galyen.


The concert will also feature vocalists Jenny Anderson, a freshman, and graduate student Jody Gandino.
