Gail Hamner, assistant professor of religion in The College of Arts and Sciences, will speak on "The Cinema of Abbas Kiarostami and the Cities of Modernity" on Wednesday, April 30, at noon in the Kilian Room, Room 500 of the Hall of Languages. The lecture, the last installment in the Department of Religion's Spring 2003 Religion and Society Speakers Series, is free and open to the public. A light lunch will be offered.
Hamner specializes in religion and culture, with teaching interests in religion and film, Christianity and American culture, religion and literature and feminist theory and the study of religion. She is the author of "American Pragmatism: A Religious Genealogy" (Oxford University Press, 2003).
