Syracuse University's "Year of the Song" festival will conclude on April 20 with performances by faculty members, staff and students from SU's Rose, Jules R., and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music in the College of Visual and Performing Arts. The concert is part of the Setnor Tuesday Night Concert Series and will begin at 8 p.m. in the Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium, located in Crouse College.
Li Li and Wei-Yi Yang, professors of music, will be accompanied by Martha Sutter, assistant dean in the VPA Office of Undergraduate Student Services, in a performance of Brahms' "Zwei Gesange, Opus 91, No. 2." Gregory Wood and Sar-Shalom Strong, affiliate artists in the Setnor School, will perform selections by Tchaikovsky and Mendelssohn. Strong will also perform Schubert's "Der Hirt auf dem Felsen" with Julianna Sabol, professor of music, and Ronald L. Caravan, affiliate artist.
Additionally, under the direction of Barbara M. Tagg, affiliate artist, the Women's Choir will perform Imant Raminsh's "Songs of the Lights," with a solo by music education major Kate Yackel, and the world premiere of Liu Zhuang's "Xiu He Bao."
All Setnor Tuesday Concerts are free and open to the public. Parking is available at Irving Garage.
