In recognition of being an ongoing and significant resource for professional talent for General Electric Co. (GE), Syracuse University's Center for Career Services has received the "GE Partnership Award," an honor presented annually to select institutions that are critical to the success of GE's mission and leadership in the global marketplace.
"We look at the Center for Career Services as the one organization that is critical for facilitating many of the relationships that materialize for GE," says Peter Bowen, manager for university recruiting and candidate sourcing for GE. "Syracuse University has done an outstanding job over many years in being receptive to new ideas, helping to promote GE, making key connections for us and, most importantly, being a good and caring partner. Syracuse is a school we are proud to be at because of the people."
In making the award, the Recruiting and Staffing Services unit of GE evaluates its 38 select executive schools each year, looking at the number of hires, the relationship GE has with the faculty, administration and students of a given institution and the mutual collaborative value GE receives from its students, faculty, and staff and vice versa.
"Given that GE runs such a highly regarded campus recruiting program, this is an extremely meaningful award for the Center for Career Services and Syracuse University," says Michael T. Cahill, director of the center. "Not only does it honor the dedicated and talented staff of professionals in our office, but it is also reflective of the high quality of students that GE finds at SU."
Says Barry L. The Center for Career Services, a principal unit in the Division of Student Affairs at Syracuse University, supports undecided and career-focused people through guidance, services, information, events and connections.
