SU students invited to attend 'Open Mic With Bob Costas '74' Sept. 21 at Newhouse III

S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications alumnus Bob Costas '74 will speak to Syracuse University students about his career in sportscasting on Friday, Sept. 21, at 2 p.m. in Newhouse III's Joyce Hergenhan Auditorium. "Open Mic with Bob Costas '74" is part of the Newhouse School's yearlong celebration of the First Amendment.


As one of America's most recognized and accomplished sports broadcasters, Costas has covered sports for nearly 30 years. He has won 14 Emmy Awards and has been honored as the National Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association "Sportscaster of the Year" a record eight times. His book, "Fair Ball: A Fan's Case for Baseball" (Broadway Books, 2000), spent several weeks on The New York Times Bestseller List. In 2001, Costas received SU's George Arents Pioneer Medal, the highest alumni honor the University bestows.
