Student to conduct evening of musical theater numbers May 2

Amy Wert, a graduate conducting student in Syracuse University's Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music, will conduct an evening of musical theater numbers including songs from "H.M.S. Pinafore," "Avenue Q" and more, May 2 at 8 p.m. The recital is a collaboration between students of SU's music and drama programs.

The first half of the program will be a showcase performance by freshmen in the musical theater practicum, featuring songs from Romberg, Hammerstein, Lerner and Loewe, Finn and Guettel. The second half of the program, "Selections from Sweeney Todd in Concert," will feature a 22-piece orchestra performing Sondheim favorites including "The Worst Pies in London," "My Friends" and "Pretty Women."

The concert will take place in the Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium, located in Crouse College. It is free and open to the public. Parking is available in the Irving and University Avenue garages.
