The Syracuse University Women's Choir, conducted by Barbara Tagg, will perform a concert on April 26 at 8 p.m. in the Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium in the University's Crouse College. The concert is free and open to the public.
The program will feature works by Baldassare Galuppi, Javier Busto, Gregg Smith and Ruth Watson Henderson; featured folk songs from Canada and Brazil will be performed. Instrumentalists participating with the choir include Melissa Long on trumpet and Katrine Viscio on fiddle. Accompanying the choir will be Leigh Gobrogge and Emily Jayko. The Mandarins, an award winning a cappella ensemble of the Women's Choir directed by senior Melissa Rashford, will also perform.
The SU Women's Choir recently performed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Doylestown, Penn., as part of a performing arts series sponsored by the church. Earlier this semester, the choir hosted a Women's Choir Festival in which 175 singers from Westhill and Tully high schools participated. The SU Women's Choir is the largest student choral ensemble at the University.
