On April 22, the Syracuse University Wind Ensemble will perform in the Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium, located in Crouse College, at 8 p.m. Directed by John M. Laverty, associate professor of music, the ensemble will perform works by Michael Daugherty, Gottfried Sonntag, Karel Husa and Edward Gregson. "Partita XI: Amazing Grace," composed by Joseph H. Downing, director of the Rose, Jules R. and Sanford S. Setnor School of Music, will also be performed. Guest conductors include Amy Wert, graduate assistant, and West Genesee High School Band Director Andrew Perry.
On April 23, SU's Symphony Band will perform in the Setnor Auditorium at 8 p.m. The program consists of marches and dances composed by artists including Robert Russell Bennett, John Philip Sousa, and Henry Fillmore. The ensemble is directed by Bradley P. Ethington, associate professor music. Peter A. Acosta, associate director of bands, will guest conduct, as will several students enrolled in the Masters in Music Education program at SU.
On April 25, SU's Concert Band will perform at 8 p.m. in the Setnor Auditorium. Directed by Acosta, the ensemble will also be conducted by graduate assistants Joanna Anderson and Wert. Pieces to be performed include compositions by John Williams, Frank Erickson, David Holsinger and Sousa.
All performances are free and open to the public. Parking is available in Irving Garage.
